Patexia Releases 2025 PTAB Litigation Intelligence Report, Covering Five Years of Patent Trial and Appeal Board Activity
Santa Monica, CA (September 11, 2025): Patexia, the leading intellectual property intelligence platform, today announced the release of its 2025 PTAB Litigation Intelligence Report, providing the most comprehensive analysis to date of proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). The report covers five years of filings, outcomes, and rankings, offering unmatched insights into the companies, law firms, and attorneys shaping patent disputes at the Board.
Key Findings Include:
- 6,857 PTAB proceedings filed between July 1, 2020, and June 30, 2025, covering 5,098 patents and 82,196 patent claims.
- 5,415 IPRs concluded, with 33.0% resolved through settlement, 32.1% resulting in a Final Written Decision, and 30.7% denied institution.
- 2,568 companies participated, including 1,229 petitioners and 1,531 patent owners.
- 850 law firms and 5,650 attorneys were active, with rankings provided for both activity and performance.
- 195 administrative patent judges presided over these proceedings.
The report leverages Patexia’s proprietary ranking methodology, which evaluates performance across activity and success metrics to provide a clear view of strengths and positioning in PTAB practice.
